Ryun Uchiha (両団扇, Uchiha Ryun) is one of the last surviving Uchiha clan members. He left the Leaf Village years before the Uchiha Massacre for his own reasons. He has become one of the primary, dynamic anti-heroes of Naruto Raijuu: The Beginning, however he starts out as an antagonist. In Naruto Raijū: Endgame he becomes the primary antagonist for half of the series, but reverts to a protagonist for the ending half.
As a member of the Yonkō, he is considered the Yonkō of Love (四皇幸魂, Yonkō no Sakimitama, or in literal Japanese "Yonkō no Ai"). He later abandons this title after the formation of Tsukiakari and is often called by the members of the organization, Tsukiakari no Michishirube (月灯かり乃道しるべ, Signs of the Moonlight), a pun on the group's name. He is also the leader of Tatsu, his personal platoon and later joins the Tsukiakari.
Later on in his life, he, as one of the last Uchiha, achieved new heights in power when he activated the Rinnegan, and somehow, mysteriously gained the powers of the Senju. At the height of his power, he became known as the Rebirth of Madara Uchiha (マダラサスケの再生, Uchiha Madara no Saisei).

Appearance

In his youth, Ryun bore similarities in appearance to Itachi Uchiha; having long black hair, held back in a ponytail. Presently, he has spiky black hair, with a tan complexion. His eyes are blue, a rarity in the Uchiha who mostly have onyx eyes. He wears a white, short sleeved shirt, with the collar turned up and a black haori over it. He also wears long black pants and regular shinobi sandals. Unlike most Missing-nin, he does not wear or carry a scratched headband from his former village. He is characterized by a long scar stretching from the bottom of his left eye, to the middle of his chest, which he received when fighting Seireitou Kawahiru.
Ryun shortly after his exile from Konoha.
As far as demeanor goes, he always has a rather apathetic look on. This is in start contrast to his rather warm personality, but he claims that keeping his look plain can intimidate weaker foes, or foes who have lost their resolve to fight. He claims that his current appearance is the opposite of his rival's, Seireitou Kawahiru's, though what he means by this is unknown. Physically, he is slender and muscular and looks to be around twenty to thirty years old though his actual age is a mystery.
After joining Tsukiakari, he begins wearing an Akatsuki cloak along with his original attire. Another noticeable trait is that, along with this new outfit, Ryun began letting his hair hang over his eyes, something that he last did when he was 12.
In Part VI, Ryun has grown noticeably taller (almost at eye height with Seireitou) and more muscular. He was first shown wearing a white long-sleeved shirt which was open at the torso, with a smaller version of the Uchiha crest on his collar. He wore dark blue pants with a black cloth hanging from halfway up his stomach to his knees. He also wore a white rope around his waist, tied in a bow. He also wears a short-sleeve long white coat with the kanji "Uchiha" written vertically down on the back.
After his redemption and return to the Land of Mountains, he wears a very different hairstyle; swept back hair, with a strand hanging in his face, revealing his menacing blue eyes. He now wears a long, black robe with a white collar over a blue undershirt. The hilt of his katana is visible handing from his right side. He is seen wearing the black rode, sort of like a cape. His robe has long bell sleeves, into which he hides his hands. The lining of the robe and edges or layers of the under-robe(s) appear to be white.
Over a decade after his sudden disappearance from the shinobi world, he appears much older. He has shoulder length black hair now, with some of his hair pinned up in a ponytail. He later switched to a blue shirt, similar to the one that Sasuke Uchiha wore during the Chūnin Exams. It has a raised collar and a type of gold chain across the shoulder.
In the present day, he dons red Uchiha battle armor, and a black undershirt. He has also grown his hair out, leaving it wild and untamed.

Personality

In his childhood, Ryun was a very bright and upbeat child, evident from his frequent smiling and kind behavior towards almost anyone. After his brother's death as a peace offering to Kumogakure, which would eventually lead the end of the Third Great Shinobi World War, he vowed to kill the person responsible and destroy his home village of Konohagakure. At first, perhaps due to a promise he made to his cousin, Hakushoku Uchiha, he spared the innocent and only killed when necessary. However, as his desire to avenge his dead brother grew, he tossed this aside, as shown from his ruthless encounter with Kaguya. He did, however, hold on to the notion of friendship, as shown from his somewhat kind emotions towards Seireitou Kawahiru, his fellow Yonkō. During that same ruthless encounter with Kaguya, he refused to kill Seireitou, even though the former promised to revive Mataiden if he did so, claiming that Mataiden would never look him in the eye if he did such an act.
After Mataiden is revived with a Tensei Ninjutsu by Seireitou's lover, Shiori Miyamoto, Ryun is floored with immense guilt over the actions he had committed since his initial departure from Konoha, shown from his intense weeping for Shiori as she passes away. The fact that Mataiden hadn't aged one bit since his death (due to the nature of Shiori's jutsu) only caused his weeping to increase. Seeing Seireitou's determination to never give up and to never stop living, despite his loved one's death, shocked Ryun greatly, as he now knew that Seireitou was the only person in the world who understood his pain. He was even more surprised that Seireitou was moving on, when Ryun himself had for so long clung to his brother's unfair death. Realizing that he could now begin anew, Ryun began to set his own path in the world. Over the next few years, Ryun's determination to find happiness was evident in his reliance on his friends and his love for power, rather than his hateful and vengeful feelings. Even after his wife, Kyūka, dies, he keeps his chin up, despite his great pain at her passing.
His new feelings have, overtime, changed people's opinions of him. Seireitou now views him as redeemed, and Ōnoki, the Third Tsuchikage, no longer views him as an international criminal and invited him to live in Iwagakure after the Fourth Great Shinobi World War. Ryun remains ruthless against anyone he deems an enemy, however, he is now far more protective of his allies and his new village. He also seems to be able to recognize and understand those who have lost someone important to them.
Ryun seems to hate titles, as he tells Kai Taizen that he would rebuke the name of Yonkō if it meant the pains of the past would vanish. He also longs for peace, though he claims that he will not settle for "false peace", claiming that he'd take war any day over false peace.

History

Ryun wasn't born in the Hidden Leaf. He was born during end the Third Great Shinobi World War in an Uchiha Outpost on the outskirts of the Land of Earth. Due to the situation in which he was born into, he was trained from the moment he could walk. He awakened his Sharingan at seven, and mastered it by nine, which was when he was also considered a Genin. He first came to Konoha at the age of ten, when he arrived with a supply convoy. His skills proved him to be at the level of a Chūnin, so he quickly became one. Towards the end of the war, when he was twelve, his brother, Mataiden, also his best friend, was killed by Danzō as a "peace offering" to Kumogakure Ryun's rage with the village led to the awakening of his Mangekyō Sharingan. He goes on a rampage throughout the Leaf Village, killing many civilians. Danzō comes to stop Ryun, however, he is only able to force Ryun out of the village.
Several years later, Ryun discovers Tobi in the woods of the Land of Rain. Tobi, under the guise of Madara Uchiha, explains to Ryun about his plan to go to the Hidden Leaf and end it's existence for good. Ryun explains that he doesn't care and leaves Tobi, encountering Itachi Uchiha along the way. Ryun points Itachi in the direction of Madara, before departing again. Ryun would later watch the Nine-Tailed Fox attack on Konoha happen, as he is nearby during the event. He even spots Tobi, who was controlling the Fox, but decides not to get involved.
Ryun with the other Yonkō.
Further on down the road, Ryun enters Land of Mountains and it's Hidden Village, Yamagakure, where he was sheltered for three and a half years. During which time, he meets Seireitou Kawahiru, Echo Uchiha, and Hikaru Kurosaki. Seireitou becomes his rival right from the start, and the two engage in several battles to see who's strongest. During one of their fights, Seireitou inflicts a wound on Ryun that leaves his trademark scar. The four outlaws eventually become known as the Yonkō, even though they did not travel as a unit. Thought they would save each other from hard situations when it was needed, and sometimes even fought each other. Ryun was always close to the other three members and usually only fought them to train or have a rivalry match, however, the other three would sometimes fight each other for personal gains, a prime example being Echo and Seireitou. Ryun then builds a bunker on the boarder of the Land of Mountains, to be his home indefinitely.
Later, Ryun and his teammates Kuro Tsū, and Shiori and Seireitou set out to hunt for Ryun's deceased brother's eyes, in hopes of completing his Mangekyō Sharingan. Seireitou teleports the group them to a large swampy area. After being advised to do so by Seireitou, Ryun uses Susanoo's ribcage form and follows Seireitou further. The group stumbles upon a large demon, which is quickly killed by Seireitou; causing a large vortex to appear, which the group leaps in to. A genjutsu of Mataiden is shown to Ryun, causing his anger to rise as Seireitou is caught by a mysterious woman's strange jutsu. Ryun then shatters the genjutsu, thanks to his Mangekyō Sharingan. Seireitou frees himself just in time to warn Ryun about the woman attacking him with her sword. Ryun's Susanoo stops the blow and catches her with it's arm. Seireitou forms hand seals and does his Daruma technique to absorb the woman, before asking Ryun if he was alright. Ryun shrugs him off and follows him to the man named Hirokashi. The man opened his eyes, revealing a pair of Sharingan, before transforming into a Hell-bound and attacking. Ryun tried cutting the beast in two with his Susanoo's tonbogiri, and even using Inari on it, but to no avail. Finally, his Susanoo manages to hold it down as he plucks the eyes out. While Tatsu fights the Hell-bound, Shiori implants the eyes into Ryun and he defeats the beast with ease.
The group camps once back in the swamps, and the next day, they venture to the mountains in the Land of Rain. Though hesitant, Seireitou and Shiori join the voyage. Kamui Kawahiru ambushes the group and though Ryun is able to fight on par for a brief moment, Kamui soon overwhelms him. Fusuma then appears and saves him from Kamui, causing the latter to retreat.
Some time after the Fourth Great Shinobi World War Ryun went and joined the village of Iwagakure, finally fulfilling the dream he had of finding a village where he fit in. He took on a student, one who also had one of the three great dōjutsu, the Rinnegan; Raian Getsueikirite.

Abilities

Ryun is an exceedingly smart shinobi, proving himself to be a true genius of the Uchiha clan like many of his other clansmen. Tasks that would normally be extremely difficult for his peers, were little more than a breeze for Ryun. Due to the location of his birth and where he was raised for twelve years of his young life, he did not attend the Shinobi Academy in Konohagakure, but by the time his family moved into Konoha, he was already as skilled as the average Chūnin. He became a Jōnin at the age of twelve, the same age he became a Chūnin, and was immediately thrust into the Third Great Shinobi World War. He grew up quickly because of the war, causing his mother to note her disbelief in his quick growth. At twelve, he was able to effectively use the Uchiha Fire Release, as shown in his training with his youngest brother.
Seireitou noted that Ryun's growth was astounding, claiming that he could easily fight on par with Kamui Kawahiru, the man who claimed to surpass the Yonkō. Twelve years after he gains his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, he has developed his true potential and has become a very powerful ninja, possessing a great knowledge of jutsu, a wide variety of nature transformations, and is also highly skilled in swordsmanship. He has shown himself capable of holding his own against a former Kage in battle.
Ryun is assumed to have an immense amount of chakra, evident by his ability to use his Mangekyō Sharingan and its associated techniques, along with several of his other techniques without showing much fatigue. Ryun has noted a few time that he has as much chakra as a Tailed beast with one tail. Upon awakening the Rinnegan, the true magnitude of Ryun's chakra is shown; as he is able to use multiple large techniques in rapid succession.
Currently, it is assumed that he is at least on par with Madara Uchiha, and is his successor as the strongest member of the clan.

Dōjutsu

Sharingan

Ryun, in his current appearance, with his Sharingan activated.
Due to his Uchiha lineage, Ryun has the Sharingan eyes, which is the Uchiha clan's Kekkei Genkai. Ryun's skill with the Sharingan is exceptional, shown repeatedly through his countless battles. He has he Sharingan almost constantly activated, only deactivating it when he runs out of chakra or when he sleeps. It first developed during his time at the Uchiha headquarters in the Land of Earth, and by the time he and his family arrived in Konoha, when he was at the age of twelve, he had already advanced the Sharingan to its three tomoe state. Unlike fellow Sharingan users Kakashi Hatake and Sasuke Uchiha, Ryun has not been noted to use the Sharingan's ability to copy techniques extensively, though he has used it to speed up his learning of techniques he intends to use, such as using it when he was young to learn the Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique, the Uchiha's right-of-passage technique.
Ryun has seemed to have always known the novel uses of the Sharingan. As a teenager, he would frequently use it to employ genjutsu on any foe who was unlucky enough to make eye contact with him. He was also exceptional at using the Sharingan's ability to predict the moves of a foe, and had trained his body so much that it literally reacts to the Sharingan's "premonition" ability, making him a formidable foe. With the Sharingan's ability to control the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, Ryun has been shown to forcefully subdue its chakra.

Mangekyō Sharingan

Ryun's Mangekyō Sharingan.
Ryun awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan after witnessing his brother's sacrifice at the hands of Danzō Shimura, as a peace offering to Kumogakure. Ryun's Mangekyō takes on the appearance of a three-pronged windmill.
Curiously, the first technique that awakened in Ryun's Mangekyō Sharingan was Susanoo, which he displayed moments after he obtained the eyes; in a fit of rage over the loss of his brother. While Itachi Uchiha was a master of Sharingan genjutsu, namely Tsukuyomi, Sasuke was a master of Amaterasu, Ryun has proved himself to be a master of Susanoo to a degree far beyond any other Sharingan user. Other than its ability to partially manifest to fit the situation, Ryun's Susanoo can be kept activated longer, because it drains his chakra less substantially due to his mastery of it.
Ryun's incomplete version forms the spirit with skeletal muscles for attacking. He is also able to combine the technique with Amaterasu to further increase his defensive power by making it impossible to touch Susanoo without being ignited. Ryun's incomplete version has a more Pharaoh-like appearance, it has a very round head, with a box-like design around it's eyes and nose area, it also has a short spike-like protrusion coming from the bottom of it's chin, similar to a Pharaoh's mask. It wields a chakra spear in its right hand capable of easily shattering stone pillars. His incomplete version once looked similar in form to a fox, complete with ten tail-like protrusions. After being enraged by Ibitsu's story of Danzō, who had killed his brother as an apparent peace offering to another nation, Ryun's Susanoo changed into the more common, humanoid form, and later, after the formation of Tsukiakari, he is able to produce a fully manifested Susanoo, complete with flesh and armor. Susanoo may feed on it's user's emotions to become stronger. Ryun and Sasuke's versions of Susanoo was overall shown to change it's weapons accordingly.
Later on, in his battle with Kurisu Taizen, after both an onlooking Seireitou, and Kurisu had taunted him with his brother's death, his Susanoo made a change. The sword like arrow transformed into a spirit weapon, the Tonbogiri (蜻蛉切, Dragonfly cutting spear), which is an elongated spear, made of chakra, that instantly cuts in two anything that the blade touches. During the same fight, he also awakens his defensive spirit weapon, the Wanyūdō (輪入道, Wheel Monk). It is a circular shield, similar in some aspects to the Yata's Mirror, however a skull forms in it's center. The shield itself is strong enough to endure large scale physical damage, but the skull has the ability to suck in and absorb ninjutsu that comes near the shield, making it a truly powerful defense. In it's most recent appearance, it has been shown capable of gaining it's final layer of armor, making it appear like a yamabushi, and gaining the Yasakani no Magatama (八尺瓊曲玉, Benevolence Beads of Imperial Ascension) is a golden necklace worn around the Susano'o neck, and completes Susano'o power. This necklace is also seen in Seireitou's version. The powers of the necklace are yet unknown.
The second ability he displayed was Amaterasu. Whenever entering a battle in which his Mangekyō has to be used, Ryun will often use Amaterasu as a "starting technique". While he can use Sasuke's advanced blaze nature, he cannot use it with as much skill, only being able to produce a "Shield of Black Flames". He has shown skill enough with Amaterasu to quench the so-called "extinguishable black flames". Amaterasu and Susanoo both seem to strain his eyes more than his other Mangekyō techniques.
The third technique he is capable of using is the Sharingan genjutsu, Tsukuyomi. Ryun's version seems to be nowhere near Itachi's level, though it surpasses Sasuke's level, in that he can use it without a foe noticing and can somewhat warp a person's perception of time itself. Of all his Mangekyō techniques, he uses Tsukuyomi the least. He only seems to use it when he is certain that genjutsu will work on a foe, and usually uses his other genjutsu to test this out.
Ryun's "Eternal" Mangekyō Sharingan.
Ryun's new complete Susanoo.
After nearly going blind from overuse of his Mangekyō Sharingan, Ryun seeks out the Sharingan eyes of his dead brother, Mataiden Uchiha (before he is revived by Shiori) and implants them into his eyes, giving him an "Eternal" Mangekyō Sharingan. With his new eyes, he never has to fear losing his eyesight from usage of the Mangekyō Sharingan and its techniques. Ryun's Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan takes on the appearance of his original Mangekyō's design fused with itself, possibly because Mataiden hadn't obtained the Mangekyō and therefore had no design of his own to incorporate into Ryun's. Ryun also comments that since he obtained the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, his Mangekyō techniques have cost much less chakra.
With his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, Ryun's Susanoo changes form; possessing two entirely different sides that are conjoined along their respective spines, with each displaying a pair of arms and face that are distinct from the other. This is because Mataiden's Susanoo design is now incorporated into Ryun's Susanoo. In its final form, the chakra coloration has changed from red to purple, and it is surrounded by the flames of Amaterasu.

Rinnegan

Ryun with the Rinnegan activated.
Having spent decades mastering and perfecting his Sharingan, Ryun finally awoke the final level of his eye technique; the Rinnegan. With it, it is possible for him to master every nature incarnation, as well as preform the abilities of the Six Paths.
He is also able to use his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan techniques, such as Susanoo, in conjunction with the powers of the Rinnegan. For example, he is able to use his Susanoo in order to form hand seals to strengthen his Rinnegan powers. He does so in his Fire Release: Majestic Hell Fire Technique, in which summons his Susanoo in its incomplete state, using its four hands to form the Horse and Bird hand seals, while he himself form the tiger seal. Shortly after, his Susanoo releases Fire Release: Ultra-Great Fireball Technique from its mouth, creating a massive wave of fire, which Ryun then sets ablaze with Amaterasu, creating an unstoppable wave of "hell fire" that incinerates anything in his path.

Nature Transformations

Ryun is a master of the fire nature, common to most Uchiha. However, as a member of the Yonkō, and the self-proclaimed successor of Madara Uchiha, Ryun's fire nature surpasses all natural limits. This is best demonstrated in his use of numerous fire techniques, all of which are so powerful, that the combined might of water users is required to put them out. Seireitou Hyūga mentioned that his fire techniques were "unnatural" in their power.
In lieu with Madara, Ryun has also gained the ability to control Senju powers; like Wood Release. While he can use his own unique wood techniques, he has also been seen utilizing the First Hokage's Wood Release Secret Technique: Nativity of a World of Trees. Because he has wood release, it is presumed he can also manipulate earth and water.
Also, due to his awakening of the Rinnegan, it is possible that he knows wind nature as well.

Summoning Technique

Ryun also has access to a very unique group of summonings; Gryphons. His Gryphon summonings have vast knowledge of Wind and Lightning-type techniques, as well as giving him a mode of transportation and an aerial advantage in a battle. They vary widely in a appearance and color, but each one is unique. Ryun claims to be the only one who has made a contract with them, making him very unique.

Creation and Conception

The idea for Ryun Uchiha came to me when I first joined the Naruto Fanon wiki. He was basically suppose to be me put into the Narutoverse, and still to this day possess traits similar to me; such as his care for his brother. While my care isn't for a blood brother, it is for my cousin, someone I view as a brother and a best friend. His fear of spiders is also inherited from me (I HATE spiders!!). After his revamping, I was going through a lot of bad stuff in real life, and used him as a medium in which to express my horrible and awful emotions and pain.
Upon doing so, my friends frequently commented to me on how much my emotions and my usage of Ryun resembled how Sasuke was developing in the manga. At first I was skeptical. I mean, yes I did read the manga, but I wasn't inspired by Sasuke, nor was I sympathetic to his goals. When I put together the whole Mataiden backstory, I chose Danzō as the antagonist, just because he didn't seem to like Uchiha, and he seemed to be willing to even kill children to obtain peace; not because he was responsible for most of the Sasuke-Itachi drama. In fact, I truly hated Sasuke for the way he was acting. In contrast to each other, Ryun actually had a reason for wanting Konoha destroyed. They quite literally sacrificed his brother for peace, while Sasuke had killed his own brother and even knowing Itachi's wishes, went against them.
His nickname, Tsukiakari no Michishirube came about two ways. When I made Tsukiakari, the organization he founds, I had yet to find out their was an anime opening with a song of the same name. The next day, when I was fishing around YouTube for an opening for Part IV, I found it in the form of a Darker than Black opening; an anime I loved, but hadn't caught up on just yet. I gave him that name to be both a pun on the song, and on the organization.

Quotes

  • (To Kitsunekamen) "Foolish woman. If you look like a beast I will only call you a beast. For a beast sits lower than the starts, lower than the birds of the sky, and lower than man himself. Fear not though, I will tame you. Everything within my vision, kneels before me."
  • (To Danzō) ""The gap felt by those who have been abandoned... The hatred by those who survived... Those who receive the burden of emotions as bleak accept being controlled by them. All I wanted was the death of them. This question haunted my thoughts but the answer had already been lost. You do not find the answer until you've killed everyone. It was a decision I took. I deleted my "destiny" with my enemies. I do not fear death as long as I can avenge his honor. That is why I am strong..."
  • (To Kyūka) "I'm sorry Kyūka-chan...this is...my ninja way."
  • (to Kyūka) "If things were to change, do you think you could ever fall in love with me? Or fulfill a dream for which I long? The world is about to change. That's why I'm here now. I've come and this will mean a new beginning for my life."
  • "Freedom is something you have to fight for, rather than something you're given. Being free means being prepared to carry that burden."
  • (To Seireitou) "Seireitou...you suddenly appeared in front of me in this hell. The day that I would get to meet you...I always wanted to apologize to you for never defending you from those people that threw you down and made you lonely...I only endured because of my will to keep you as a friend...without you...I would've died only awhile after I left the village! Yet I kept on living, to bring Mataiden back...and...to be better than you were!"
  • (To Josho) "People like you irritate me. The people that think they were born with the right to judge others, to tell others who they are. You're no different from that scum Danzō. People like you must learn to humble themselves and acknowledge the existance and the desires of others that surround them."
